Has the winter finally let up? As the sun rises this morning, I realized that maybe, just maybe, Spring has arrived and  it is time to go outside and have fun! We need to get the kids away from those game console and get them outside!

Yesterday, my wife and I had the pleasure of babysitting our friend’s three children. I made the terrible suggestion of asking who wants to draw or paint? The reaction was a weird stare with an “are you from the 20th century?” look. One looked at me and said “you do not have a computer that we can do that on?”

We hardly let our kids sit with paint and mix colors to create a new one. Watch their eyes as the colors change. They cannot wait to try out their new colors on the paper. Why do we not let them? Lead content – we are in 2010 and lead is still being used where if it is  potentially harmful to children. Hockey sticks and even education kits were recently recalled. Be especially careful with items with paint.
